Catherine E. O'Meara, Esq.

Catherine O'Meara has been a practicing attorney since 1995. She began in the area of criminal defense with the firm of Schulman and Associates. From there she took a position as a staff attorney with the UAW Legal Services Plan where she practiced in the areas of general civil litigation and bankruptcy. In the year 2000, she returned to the criminal defense arena as a partner in the firm O’Meara & O’Meara, PLLC. In 2003, when the firm dissolved, she took a position as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Wayne County. Then in 2005, she returned to criminal defense where she remains today.

Ms. O’Meara specializes in Wayne County cases where she has had substantial success, especially with young defendants and those in need of drug treatment. She is dedicated and attentive to each client’s individual needs and strives to obtain the best result in each individual case. Her familiarity with the Wayne County criminal courts assures her clients access to all of the programs available from diversion to drug court. Additionally, she is dedicated to ensuring the police are held to the highest standards of respecting citizens’ rights and remaining truthful in their testimony.

Ms. O’Meara graduated from the University of Michigan in 1991 (BGS) and from Wayne State University Law School (cum laude) in 1995. In law school, she was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus, National Lawyer’s Guild, Moot Court and the Free Legal Aid Clinic Board of Directors.
